Those areas that are inundated or saturated by surface or groundwater at a frequency and duration to support, and that under normal circumstances do support, a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in saturated soil conditions.

Quite often, development projects impact or have the potential to impact wetlands either on site or nearby. But first, a determination must be made as to exactly where a wetland starts and ends. This determination is generally called a wetland delineation.
