      Wetlands Delineation and Mitigation

wet◦land  n.

Those areas that are inundated or saturated by surface or groundwater at a frequency and duration to support, and that under normal circumstances do support, a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in saturated soil conditions.

Quite often, development projects impact or have the potential to impact wetlands either on site or nearby.  But first, a determination must be made as to exactly where a wetland starts and ends.  This determination is generally called a wetland delineation.  EEC can fully investigate your project and your site and determine the extents of any wetlands and the ramifications to your development of the property.

With wetland mitigation, the goal is to replace lost wetland functions to provide such benefits as fish and wildlife habitat, water quality protection, flood storage and groundwater recharge.  EEC can help you determine exactly what your site needs to protect or restore any wetland areas.

Stream Assessment & Monitoring

When a development project impacts the course or behavior of a stream, the developer is often required to assess and monitor the impact at the state and/or federal level.  EEC can help you with all aspects of the assessment, monitoring, and reporting procedures.  We have extensive experience with the agencies involved, and can help determine the best management practices for both the health of the stream, and for compliance with regulations.
